Sasui: A journey of love
2021, Paris

Sasui: A journey of love is an adventure and stimulation VR experience that follows the 12th century Sindhi story of estranged lovers, Sasui and Punnhun, as told by Sufi saint and poet, Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, as a metaphor for the human soul’s search for the divine. This was a collaborative project done with six other emerging artists from Parsons Paris, including Gaia Livay and Tessa Makai. I was the project leader and presented our oeuvre at the New School’s Dean’s Honor Symposium 2022 in New York City, where it was recognised as an exceptional work.

The essence of the story is that Sasui recognises the divine within Punnhun and in her perilous journey searching for him, becomes him herself. The game and original tale are both set in what are the provinces of Sindh and Baluchistan in modern-day Pakistan. The player enters as Sasui embarking on her quest for Punnhun. As the player journeys across the desert, they unlock Bhittai’s verses in Sindhi and English.
