This film series is an exploration of the self and consciousness that exists in all living things.

Part of this project was shot at home in my neighbour’s garden, and part is composed of found footage, mostly scientific in genre. It is an amalgamation of a performance of me being treated as a plant, where the performers imagine that I am a sapling; videos shot from outer space show the triviality of the human experience; and videos of observations of non-human nature, such as a butterfly farm and a time-lapse of a leaf unfurling.  The nature of the work is such that it is relevant across time, and it also evokes thought on the miniscule age of the human race as compared to the flora on this planet. I undertook this project to figure out what it means to be ‘human’ and question why living things, be it humans, plants, or animals, cannot acquire a mono-identity. How are human lives different from non-human lives?
